Duane Verity, Trumpet
I continued playing in High School where I picked up a thing for the "valve trombone" in jazz lab. When I joined the Air Force (1975), the question arose "Who here can play brass?" You would have been proud of how fast my hand went up! Drum and Bugle Corps meant no KP and no marching to class (along with base liberty EVERY night)! Great gig! In tech school, D&B was a first class ticket to the easy road, no marching, no KP, no abusive NCO ego trips and a full bird Colonel for a flight commander who didn't want his D&B messed with. Music was good to me, not as good as it was to my more serious siblings, but that is their good fortune!
